Each state that bans abortions should simultaneously enact a strict Paternal Responsibility law, which mandates the following:

    * Upon confirmation of pregnancy and established paternity, the father is equally responsible for the welfare of the mother and child, including medical and living expenses until the birth. The father should pay for up to 12 months of maternity leave, equivalent to the mothers annual income.

    * Thereafter, the father is equally responsible for all costs of the child's upbringing until 18 years of age.

    * Failure to meet these to be codified as a criminal offense.

    * Upon the death of the father, the child would be automatically entitled to an equal share of his estate.

That way, the mother doesn't have to go through the process of suing through the civil courts.

It seems only fair, but I doubt the legislators in those states would see it that way.
