the good news is that prep time was minimal.

previously watso first semi precooked 1 dozen eggs in his micro solar hot water system - and at his own leisure transferred the eggs to a 1.5 litre thermos - added 800ml of boiling water - and left that to finish cooking for a few hours .

the spiral pasta was simply a cup full of spiral pasta into a 750ml thermos - with 500ml of boiled water (straight from the kettle) - and left to cook for 20 minutes .

after 20 minutes the drained hot water was saved (in the thermos) - and after dinner used to wash the bowl, spoon, and some sundry items - using the micro dishwasher brush (ie an old toothbrush) - and no need for dishwashing detergent.

it does not take much effort to crack a couple of precooked eggs from the fridge, and to open a can of sardines .. then add to the pasta (with a dollop of peanut paste).

in all fairness, it was not a bad meal - ok - cheap and nasty - with a good dose of protein .

it would be easy to add some sundry extras - but watso was trying to keep the cost down to $5 (which included a bottle of wine) - for a romantic dinner for two people

for what it is worth, but when watso would eat out - he never had entrees or dessert - that was all just expensive extras
