Anyone shorting would be participating on the CR whether Insto/SPP as a natural way to buy back without pushing price up with a short squeeze. Anyone shorting through a CFD provider is only playing synthetic and does not usually interfere with real stock pricing. When flipping shortman's short volume, these are real physical shorts by borrowing stock. A complex process and the shorter has to ring around to see who is available to lend. My understanding is min $50K value. A CFD provider if they are hedging that position by offering their clients shorting ability will do the ring around to borrow stock so it is a very opaque area since most CFD brokers 'know' betting against their client is more profitable than just earning brokerage.

No problem with shorting because it is usually a symptom of a stock valuation and not the cause!
