I lack discipline, I’m truly hopeless in that regard.
I wouldn’t be happy living to hard rules, that would take all the fun out of it. So, I do things to protect me from blowing up my Capital.
I believe in diversification (not too much) and some rough exposure limits to stocks.
Where I break those limits, I watch those investments like a hawk, waiting for a good excuse to liquidate.
One of the best ideas I’ve taken onboard is that I don’t have to be right about everything. In fact, I can be wrong a lot and still make good money within the Portfolio setting.

As for entry habits, I think Average Joe’s technical analysis is a great starting point. He has a knack for identifying entry levels with an high probability of success.
If you’re a little less patient, like me, buy and sell in parcels. Now, you don’t have to make a pressure all or nothing decision, especially because there will almost always be some doubt. You buy a parcel, if price goes down - who cares? I get my next one cheaper. If price goes up, you’re still making money. Of course, this means that profits won’t be maximised, but neither will losses. I feel it takes all the pressure off me and allows me to take positions a little earlier with further firepower if needed.
