    In other words Romney will support a nominee who has:

    - the appropriate legal qualifications and experience (in lower courts);
    - demonstrated knowledge of Constituional law.
    - sound knowledge of legal precident, rules and process.
    - capacity to be impartial and make evidence based decisions.

    and I'll add one of George Washington's criterions.

    - "favorable reputation with his fellows"( in other words of good character.)

    The funny thing is that Biden could also conceivably support (or at least not oppose) such a nominee. There are plenty of people out there with the required professional attributes.

    BUTTrump has a track record of appointing nominees of poor character and no relevant skill sets or knowledge to judicial positions.

    Trump is on notice .... so my guess is that Romney will have his way because a FWIT flunky nomines are unlikely to be supported by the Senate on this occasion.

    cheers
