In principle your post makes perfect sense trtkjd1. Liam might not be the 'boss', the ceo or the village chief for that matter however he is the public relations man
(mouthpiece) for the company is he not?
Under normal circumstances I would agree with you re your point of him 'not knowing' such critical information but then again we're talking about AAM here!
It would have made much more sense for him to have said, 'Look I can't discuss that sort of information with you...'. To have said that he doesn't have that information is sooooo typical of this company - what you don't know can't hurt you or let's keep all the bad news under wraps YET AGAIN.
Can't say this company aren't consistent.
