If my memory is good it was $54 mil in tailings management over the life of the project, $14 mil initially

well I still dare to speculate ...

this is huge project and after Baia Mare must be done properly as lots of organization are watching....

Rosia Montana has not submitted any exploration project





Rosia Montana Gold Corporation has not requested from the authorities any assent regarding the ore extraction and processing operations, until now. Consequently, the steps taken by some NGOs from Hungary are not justified, declared Ioan Jelev, Secretary of State in Ministry of Water and Environmental Protection (MAPM).

The statement was made by the Romanian official one day after the publication by the Hungarian daily Nepszava of an article showing that 21 environmental protection organisations in Hungary want to porevent the opening of the mine at Rosia Montana. The Hungarian environment specialists consider that the operations to be developed at that mine could be a considerable source of pollution for Mures river, with effects on the environment in the neighbouring countries, and therefore they requested the Hungarian environment minister to take a stand under Espoo Convention.

“The Espoo Convention regarding the crossborder impact of the industrial activities was ratified by Romania in 2001, and the Hungarian authorities were advised by MAPM about the current situation at Rosia Montana,” declared Jelev.

Until now, the only favorable environment approval was issued for the general and local urban plans for the localities Rosia Montana and Abrud.
