That’s quite an expansive article. I haven’t seen that sort of in-depth look at the ASX since the vanity piece the AFR Boss mag did on the ASX CEO and his grand technology vision.
Interesting to see a few industry insiders challenging the ASX position (albeit off the record). The recent tech failings will add credibility to their voices.
There’s clearly some smoke emanating from ASX HQ. Hopefully some more journalists might focus an enquiring mind on the ASX, their operations, culture and regulatory environment. it seems the ASX has wielded unhealthy influence over the regulators and through them the politicians. The mere hint of scandal (even potential scandal) would see that influence evaporate and the regulators/politicians take a more objective view of the behaviour of the ASX and the needs/interests of the financial markets.
