BT interesting and thought provoking. I think the reality though is that it is almost impossible for a government to legislate to mitigate the effect of a high court decision. In addition we are all in this mess because banks have had it all their own way for far too long. To come whining now that they may have to rank with other unsecured creditors won't be taken seriously by government and in any event if they, the Banks, don't invest in Australian resource companies who will they invest in - South America, East Asia, Africa etc no they won't as they only invest in places of minimal sovereign risk. They will return in my view and S o G will survive and reshape share trading across the world.
