For laboratory research use only in Australia, Memphasys’ RoXsta device does not require Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) approval. The TGA regulates medical devices intended for clinical use in humans (e.g., diagnostics or treatment), but devices used exclusively for non-clinical research, such as in labs for studying oxidative stress in cells, animals, or other non-human applications (e.g., livestock, cosmetics, plant-based products), are exempt. RoXsta can be supplied to research institutions, universities, or labs under a “research use only” (RUO) label without needing TGA registration, as RUO devices are not considered therapeutic goods under the Therapeutic Goods Act 1989. This allows Memphasys to distribute RoXsta to labs for experimental purposes, potentially generating early revenue from research sales as soon as late 2025, depending on production and partnerships.
