    I admit that mine are rubbery figures. You have to think averages. I do all the grocery shopping for two, and without being extravagant I can never escape it for less than $250pw (includes toiletries, bread and milk). As for fuel costs, again I'm talking averages. Depends on what you drive (lawn mower or V8). It cost circa $100 to fill the average 6c car, and most will go through a tank (including weekend trips) in any given week. Not everyone drives a few Ks to the rail way station to take the train. If so, then add the cost of the weekly rail travel to the cost equation. I know lots of folks that drive over 100km to work and back. Again, you have to think averages in the cost of living analysis.
    And yes, I'll admit that if you are very, very careful with your expenditure, you can do it cheaper. But we are not talking about Scrooge here. We are talking about the average family of four.
