Between me & my wife we'd drive 600-700km a week and that would be easily done on $70/week. She has a new Mazda 3 which given the fact she drives 80km/day most people would make the sensible decision and choose an economic car. I have a cheap old V6 Magna to park at the station it's still around 12km each way.
If you are doing the type of driving my wife does and choose to own a V8 then you need your head read. In traffic a smaller car is better anyway.
