This would have to be one of the most sensible decisions by a government in a long long time.

Anyone who cares to take an interest know that Australia has a very large amount of Uranium and is currently a significant exporter.

Nuclear power produces NO GREENHOUSE GASES and in geologically stable land the radiation deposition can be safely placed for storage. Both nuclear power and storage of nuclear waste are big business globally and the only thing Australia gets out of it is a few jobs, a little bit of tax, dividends for a few and government royalties.

The real value add is the lower cost of electricity for both the households and industry.

Of course people will come up with all the reasons why not however compare the stable parts of Australia with a nuclear power station in an earthquake zone that was hit by a tidal wave.

If and when Australia joins the only stable base load that doesn't produce greenhouse gases then we can truly sing Advance Australia Fair.

To all those who knock the idea, explain why England draws power from the French nuclear grid when "East Enders" finishes and other peak times.
