My brother served in the Royal Australian Air force. He was able to transition into private enterprise using the skills he had achieved in the RAAF and had a successful career in private enterprise. However, for some the transition has obviously been extremely difficult for them. There are likely many complex reasons for the issues that arose leading to a high suicide rate and hopefully the Royal Commission will arrive at conclusions and remedies of benefit to service personnel and their families.
