Stoof, based on the position expressed by the ATO you can select which shares you sell - note though the sold shares have to come from the same holding as the purchased shares. ie if you have a broker sponsored holding with ABC Brokers and another with XYZ brokers, you can't have XYZ broker sell shares from the holding you have with them and then claim the shares actually came from the holding with ABC broker.
