Permanent ban for Rivkin

DISGRACED stockbroker Rene Rivkin has been banned permanently by the corporate regulator from providing any financial services.
The Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) said that because of Mr Rivkin's present illness supported by medical evidence, he was unlikely to have the capacity to ensure that he complied with financial services laws.
"As a result, ASIC is satisfied there is reason to believe he will not comply with a financial services law in the future," ASIC said.
Mr Rivkin was the holder, under the former licensing regime, of a dealer's licence and authority from Tarfaya Nominee Pty Ltd, which published The Rene Rivkin Report.
ASIC said that as a result of the permanent ban, Mr Rivkin was excluded from the financial services industry.
