Howard stopped the boats full stop. Rudd Duddy gave the people smugglers the bright green light, and well the rest, as they say, is history. History at the burgeoning expense of the Aussie taxpayer.
But I agree, and have said a number of times, that in the light of the dramatic increase in illegals passing through Indonesia, its should give us back the money the Liberal Federal Government so generously gave them. And why we keep giving them more aid is beyond me, especially as we hear, repeatedly, that Indonesia is well on the way to becoming the next SE Asian 'tiger' economy.
The time for sucking up to the Indonesians is well and truly over. It has taken us for suckers for far too long,, especially under Julia's and Kevin's terms as PM.
