Countries spend billions in advertising and diplomacy for years and years to build up their reputation as a safe investment destination. Rudd and Swan have instantly destroyed years of trust, investment, diplomatic capital and relationship building. He is openly stating in the media that he wants to tax foreign owners hard, so he can appeal to his unproductive supporters. He has single handedly instantly cost Australia billions for floating a completly STUPID idea.
Australia will always need foreign capital. Even the arrogant Keating knew that.
