As caretaker PM, Rudd has to keep the machinery of government running whilst the campaign rolls on.

Abbott will cooperate, and be fully briefed on anything significant that develops.

There isn't anything wrong with what Rudd is doing in this instance imo, I don't think he's trying to milk anything he is just carrying out his duties as is required of him.

And Abbott is also fully on the correct side by supporting Rudd going back to Canberra.

The election date will not change, nor I don't think will the outcome.

Let's put just a little bit of balance and perspective back into the forum, please???
