Rarely disagree with things you write, but not sure the public/private debate necessarily applies here.
Large parts of "private health" already have their hand in your pocket.
Perhaps an argument for another day.
As far as home birth midwifery, I dont think it unreasonable that they have the same level of subsidy for their indemnity insurance as the proceduralist gp[actually not huge].
My feeling is that it wont make much difference, they will still struggle to get affordable coverage.
If they can, it would be as good evidence as any, that their claims of safety and benefit are justified.
