I think they are between a rock and a hard place on this one. I am mystified why labor chose Rudd and then Gillard in the first place as neither seem to come from strong factions.
Gillard was obvious. Designed purely to win the election using the 'woman' factor. First woman prime minister, you might be surprised how many were impressed by that idea. I have no doubt that move was the predominant reason they managed to draw the election rather than lose.
