Brilliant stuff and all the more effective because he spoke in their local language. No fear of translator's playing with his words.

Rudd refers to Lu Xun's "Diary of a Madman." I don't know if it's available anywhere any more but it's a brilliant book. Get it if you can.

I thought he'd also mention Wu Ching-Tzu's "The Scholars" which is also another chinese mastership and which I also thoroughly recommend, but he didn't.
