dennis atkins has an interesting article, where he claims that rudd has gone from the offensive, to the defensive..

"Rudd started this election thinking he was going to win by saving most, if not all, Labor held seats and snatching between six and a dozen from the Coalition.

That's why we saw him in those first weeks after he took back the leadership in Liberal and Nationals seats like Macquarie and Bennelong in Sydney's north and west, in Forde, Brisbane, Longman, Flynn, Dawson, Herbert and Leichhardt in Queensland and Solomon in Darwin.

This week Rudd has gone defensive, preferring to take his fight into Labor territory - Moreton and Petrie in Brisbane and Corangamite in Victoria."

in the article , atkins writes that when there has been a change of government over the past 40 years - it has been decisive.

it is all over - labor know that it is over, and all they can do is to try and save a few seats.

in ww2, hitler was still rallying the troops, from his bunker - and finally it was the hitler youth that did the fighting. one wonders if rudd will call upon his schoolkids to fight last battle
