This afternoon Julia Gillard asserted that she gets things done, that she has courage, that she doesn't drop her bundle under pressure & has always kept the best interests of the Party close to her heart.

In contrast Kevin Rudd claimed to be a man of the people with a burning passion to democratise the Party, an energetic leader who painted a vision for our future that was embraced in 2007, the one who delivered us from the GFC who still has the passion & commitment to achieve that vision.

It seems that based on their own self-perceptions that the Labor Caucus has to choose between a 'doer' & a 'visionary'.

Sadly neither appears to appreciate that the effective management of innovation & reform requires all of the qualities described above, not to mention some commonsense intuition & a healthy dose of the pragmatic / cynicism.

If Kevin Rudd is returned he needs someone like John Faulkner as his DPM. If Julia Gillard retains her PM she urgently needs to replace Windbag Wayne Swan as DPM with someone whose messages cut the mustard with the people - someone who can be her public mouthpiece.
