Insulation installers vent anger
Insulation installers are calling for compensation from the Government after its scrapping of the rebate scheme. (ABC News)
The $2.5 billion program was scrapped after being linked to four deaths, house fires and allegations of fraud.
Kellie Jackson, one of the installers who met the Prime Minister at a rally outside Parliament House in February, says Kevin Rudd lied to her when he said he understood the problem and would fix it.
"It is time for you [Mr Rudd] to face up to your destruction of the insulation industry," she said.
Ms Jackson says the Government owes her business $70,000.
Another installer, Rick Palfery, says he will probably have to sell his home to pay his debts.
"I don't know how else I'm going to do it. I'm 57 years of age. I've got three children," he said.
The Opposition says Mr Rudd broke a promise by scrapping plans for a replacement insulation scheme.
