There is no reason why it will be 2020 before this type of centre is a reality. It is the perfect way to provide support to families and at the same time ensuring that funding actually benefits children as opposed to handing out wads of cash that is often not spent on children.
Federal government funding is a key component and it will become part of the standard model. The Bannockburn Family Services Centre as cited by Barbara Romeril on Lateline last night is a good example.
It's not good news for the corporate model and has been reflected in the ABS share price today.
