I read the other day that 50% of the children of the religious become atheists and hardly any of the children of atheists become religious. So we are becoming an increasingly atheist country. Religion is dying, one funeral at a time. The number of people who think that homosexuality is a choice is getting smaller and smaller.
Once upon a time supporting slavery and the superiority of the white man were respectable opinions. No more. Folau equates homosexuality (no choice) with thievery, lying, fornication etc. For a young rugby fan struggling with their sexuality, that is probably a very hard message. Folau would not apologise for the message or agree not to post such stuff again. Rugby aims to be an inclusive sport and Folau’s message, even if based on scripture, was alien to that.
If I told the gay people at work they were going to hell, I’d probably be marched out the door on the same day.
Folau can still quite religious texts, but not as the face of Rugby.
