rumor about swift, page-7

The swift deal with safenet was concluded some time ago and involves the supply of their HSM (hardware security modules) to each swift terminal. These are going to be delivered over 2007. Nothing to do with SEN.

The swiftnet security upgrade is very well documented and lots of info is available on the website www.swift.com and a preivious document www.csulb.edu/web/journals/jecr/issues/20021/paper2.pdf

For example the time line for the upgrade is here http://www.swift.com/index.cfm?item_id=60250

The new swift network uses IP-sec VPN (layer 3) encryption for customers to connect to a variety of netwok partners which in turn connect to the swift secure IP network backbone.

So after a brief search I can find no evidence that sen's technology is part of the very well documented swiftnet upgrade. Although if it was it would likely be SEN's new layer2/layer3 combo encryptor and limited to securing only the swift network backbone and not their 8000 customers.
