It is a recommendation from the ministry of education. Nothing more. There is no change to legislation. these discussions happen periodically in China, especially in gaming and internet based services. These “recommendations ” come and go in gaming as China looks to flex its regulatory muscle as a show of influence to its people.
Tencent($500b company) pissed of the Chinese regulators by trying to introduce PUBG into China, which is an extremely violent game. They recently had another games pulled from issue as it also was violent and targeted at minors. The “rhetoric” and that all it is at the moment, is targeted at Tencent, to ensure they pull their heads in with their releases and target audiences.
Anomica doesn’t have any titles targeted at minors. We sold them all to ICI. Nor do we have any violent games in the nature of PUBG, Fortnite etc. we are not on the Chinese radar, nor are any of our releases.
Ohh, and let’s not forget that Tencent and Netease actually rallied in the US on Friday, they clearly didn’t react to “headline”
