I think that there is a little ambiguity regarding the previous 3 holes on the section provided by Gateway. Apologies if below is a bit of a brain-dump.

The grades in GRC200 and GRC183 are definitiely supportive of a primary source of the copper (such as chalcopyrite) but could well be a supergene enrichment of a <1% orebody. Gateway have interpreted the intersections to be oxide, but have not clarified if they are supergene chalcocite, which would put a bit of a dampener on the grade of the primary orebody.

One missing bit of information from the section is regarding vertical hole AGRC007 (drilled in 2010), which from previous reports intersected a massive sulphide zone down-plunge of GRC200 which was massive pyrite (with sphalerite). This sulphide zone could not be responsible for the grades in the regolith above, but does cast some doubt on their base of oxidation interpretation.

On a positive note, the massive pyrite + minor sphalerite zone is consistent with typical VMS models, and lies above the chalcopyrite zone, and on the fringes of the system.

On another note, a west dipping chalcopyrite zone would probably produce a deflation copper oxide position to the east (as intersected in GRC200 and GRC183), with a near-surface gossan as intersected in the top of GRC200.

All this coupled with visible chalcopyrite in the drill chips over "impressive" widths makes a great story, and hopefully one of the great VMS deposits in the Yilgarn.
