This is an interesting story.
As reported on Chinese social media and in MSM like Daily Mail, the rumour is that the Vice-Minister of State Security, Dong Jingwei, defected to the US on 10 February. In this rumour, he has been the one briefing the Biden team on a range of issues, including the Wuhan lab leak theory.

Rumours happen all the time. One reason I am following up is yesterday's South China Morning Post article (see below). It mentions him briefing a seminar about counter espionage regulations that started in April. Two months after he was supposed to have defected.
It seems an intentional way to drop his name in reputable media in passing. Which means the Chinese government are worried about this rumour. Worried because it's true? Or worried because it's not true but makes them look weak?
