I was reading about an unrelated clinical trial, in which an interim analysis of safety was conducted and the DSMC equivalent halted the trial due to "the futility" ie no evidence of efficacy.
Could a green light by the DSMC in our case indirectly indicate some preliminary efficacy? Conversely if there is zero signs of efficacy could they halt our trial after only 80 patients (with only 20 at the highest dose?) recruited?
