I think that once he was in the job he found out just what a mess things were as compared to what he was told. Very similar to the same way the shareholders have been lead to think one thing but then reality turns out to be something very different - time and time again. I for one find comfort to have a seasoned professional in the CFO seat. If not things would hit us a lot worse and more abrupt than what will end up happening IMO.

Listen to the CC's Hastings has been on. More than once he has had to rein in AS wild speculative comments. That is honorable on the CFO and very disappointing on the CEO/Chairman.

Anyway, unless it goes to $0.00 USD/AUD I am glad Hastings is in place. With his skill, being new, and as an "outsider" compared to the rest of the C Suite he may very well be the only one on a different page - the Right page- to be able to make the best of a worst case scenario.

Darn it, It should not be like this.
