A simple observation... assuming:
1. The tax will be collected as budgeted:
No change in carbon output. The carbon tax fails in its objectives.
2. Tax succeeds in it objectives:
Carbon output significantly reduced, resulting in very little tax collected, therefore all budget planning (based on the carbon tax) out the window.
Massive deficit. New taxes will need to be invented. More running... just in time for July 2013... lol.
