    Parma,

I live in Brisbane, and see plenty of Westpac and St George branches around the place. Not sure about Queensland in general though.

The issues I see with a takeover of the two targets you mentioned are:
    1. Bank of Queensland operates a franchised branch structure and I'm not sure how Westpac would integrate that.
    2. Suncorp is probably more of an insurance company than bank and I don't think Westpac want to go there. If so, they could have a tilt at IAG.
    3. Brisbane lacks a significant number of company head offices, and is sometimes viewed as the 'branch office' city. I'm not sure what levers they can pull, but I would think that the Queensland Government would not welcome a takeover of either BOQ or SUN.

I remember Gail Kelly was very prominent on the business leaders tour Tony Abbott organised to Japan, Korea and China, and she stayed on for the business forum in China. So my guess would be more in line with Brightpower's post.
