It's not quite so straightforward as "renewables generation results in higher power bills".

About 17% of the price increase over the last 10 years was attributable to wholesale generation costs. Another 16% to 'Environmental' policies (home solar panels and energy efficiency incentives). So in total only about 1/3 of the price increase is related to the type of electrical generation. (And even that assessment is made more complicated by the effective government subsidies to ensure over-supply that coal-generators had in the past.)
The lion's share of the price increase were due to overinvestment in infrastructure (42%) and increases in the electrical retailers profit margins (26%)
