Seeing as AVZ is an explorer, rather than a miner, do they necessarily get taken over? Why wouldn't they just sell the rights to mine this resource and move on, to continue exploring? Rather than a buyer needing to compete with the liquid sentiment of the stock market, Hayou or CATL, or whoever, says we'll buy those rights for say $1 billion. AVZ say yes. They then have cash assets of $1 billion, which causes a share market adjustment to match accordingly. AVZ then make a special dividend distribution to their shareholders and move on. Maybe not, whatever is easiest and least expensive for the companies making the transaction I guess. But surely this is a logical and possible option
