Bio - There are merits in both trading shorter term & investing longer term. (your analysis of using compounding with trading is unrealistic - you will lose money on some shares - hopefully the profits you make on your winning stocks - outweigh the losing ones). Even with investing longer term stocks there does come a time when it is prudent to lock in profit. I like to look at the fundamentals to assess the overall company but use TA to time my entry & exit points - using various MA indicators, congestion areas, trend lines etc...
