The US can and is servicing its debt. They are trying to grow the economy and thus increase tax receipts and hence pay down debt. Also, low interest rates cannot remain forever and with a strengthening economy there will be a period of adjustment.
The pity is its impact on other markets and shares such as ours, although the impact should be temporary as nothing has fundamentally changed, nor for AVZ. The timing of drilling results will need to be deftly handled to spur on a price rise and/or a takeover offer.
