From discussions I've had with people inside RIO, Jadar is unlikely to be developed as producing lithium from that project at full scale would also require the production of boron where the company already has dominance, producing about half the world's supply of borates (in California) where ore reserves are estimated to last out to 2050. Producing lithium at Jadar would kill-off RIO's boron mine in California.

Also they have had technical problems trying to get the tailings to cake which means the necessity to build bigger more significantly fortified tailings dam walls. Esh
