The fact is, the Chinese business people are shrewd - they learnt a lot from the mistakes of the Japanese of the 80's when they overpaid for many assets.

We have an office in Shanghai and I can tell you, from first hand experience that negotiating with them in business is extremely tough - they want the "Lowest" price they can get.
