The Prime Minister, Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde, received in audience Friday September 3, 2021, in his office at the Prime Minister's Office, the delegation of the African Development Bank (AfDB), led by Serge Marie N'guessan, Director General of this financial institution. This delegation came not only to present the main conclusions of the mission carried out over three days in Kinshasa, but also to inform the Head of Government of various projects that the ADB intends to carry out as soon as possible in the DRC.The delegation received guidance from Prime Minister Sama Lukonde, ADB Director General told reporters.“We were received in audience by His Excellency the Prime Minister to take stock of the three days of dialogue mission that the delegation of the African Development Bank (ADB) that I am leading, carried out here in Kinshasa.

We presented the results of this mission to the Prime Minister and we received his guidance. First, on behalf of the African Development Bank, on behalf of its President, Dr Adesina, congratulated the Prime Minister on his appointment to this strategic and very important post. This nomination was well received by the African Development Bank, because the Democratic Republic of Congo is a big country for the Bank. And with this appointment, we felt a renewal in the conduct of public affairs, the conduct of the economy of this country and especially the relations between the DRC and the international community, "he said. The ADB also welcomes the relaunch of the program between the DRC and the institutions of Breton Woods, more particularly, with the IMF for the consolidation of its macroeconomic framework.“We presented the main conclusions of the mission which addressed several aspects of our cooperation, from support to reforms. Here too, we congratulated the Government on the conclusion of the program with the International Monetary Fund. Which program will allow the country to consolidate its macroeconomic indicators and above all facilitate economic recovery, "said Serge Marie N’guessan.

It also emerges from this exchange with the Prime Minister, Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde that the ADB has major projects to carry out in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and intends to do everything possible for their rapid execution.“We also talked about big projects that we have in Congo. Here I would really like to thank the authorities, the Ministers we met in particular, His Excellency the Minister of Finance. Our exchanges were really very fruitful and very frank. On these major projects, we have indicated the firm commitment of the ADB, which is the Bank of the DRC, to support these projects both in the structuring, in the advisory support to the Government, to the Ministries, and in the financing. sure, of these projects. I would name a few of these flagship projects. We insisted on the port of banana which, for us, must be carried out as quickly as possible. We intend to mobilize all the energies of the Bank Group, the expertise of the Bank Group and facilitate both legal discussions as well as the structuring of this project, and its financing, so that it can be carried out as soon as possible.

We talked about the large Inga 3 project and also the Kinshasa-Brazzaville road-rail bridge projects and the major connections of the road project, connecting the provinces. We also insisted on building the capacities of the agricultural sector, which must be for us the economic stimulus sector. We insisted that this sector can integrate Congolese youth more. We are going to put the necessary means at the level of the African Development Bank to support this vision of the Head of State to make this agriculture, a competitive agriculture, a modern agriculture, a business agriculture ”, concluded Serge Marie N'guessan.Note that the Minister of Finance, the Administrator of the ADB and some members of the Prime Minister's office took part in this very important exchange.
