One would assume that they don't want to be seen by their people to be moving too quickly, without the appropriate checks and balances. They don't want another round of dodgy deals, or a perception of dodgy deals as per their previous Chinese arrangements.

This project effectively kicks off their battery supply chain expansion so getting the deal right for the nation is more important than keeping to a timeframe that us AVZ holders expect. Excellent start with the approval and sign off on the environmental studies so hopefully DFS review is near completion so the request for ML can finally sent to the ministers for approval.
