The Deputy Minister of Mines, Godard motemona exchanged, Friday, January 28, 2022 at the residence of the American diplomat in the DRC Mike Hammer, with a delegation of American officials led by the Deputy National Security Advisor of the United States of America, Daleep Singh.
The United States of America promises to continue to support the Democratic Republic of the Congo in securing mine sites and combating child labor in mines.
Indeed, the head of the American delegation, first of all, expressed to the Deputy Minister of Mines, Godard motemona the purpose of his mission in the DRC, which concerns the strengthening of economic partnership between the United States of America and the Democratic Republic of Congo for the well-being of the population, the foundations of which were laid in Rome in Glasgow during the G20 meeting between Presidents Félix-Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo and Joe Biden.

Also, he promised the availability of the Government of the Republic to work with the American Government, through the Ministry of Mines for the materialization of the desired winning partnership. In addition, Daleep singh declared that his country will continue to support the DRC in this momentum.Recall that the United States of America promised, last year, to grant 5 million US dollars to the DRC through the Office of Energy Resources and the Department of Labor of the United States for the fight against the work of children in the mines.

The Head of State Félix Tshisekedi is expected this Monday, January 31 in Moanda, in the province of Kongo-Central, to proceed with the launch of the construction works of the deep water port in Banana.
Political figures constituting the advance team arrived last Saturday, January 29 in the coastal city of Moanda.
"We are here to lay the first stone for the construction of the deep-water port of Banana, which is very crucial for the development of our country. The Head of State himself said it, transport infrastructure must constitute the development of our country. As members of the government, we can only be committed to the continuation of the work until the end", reassured Chérubin Okende when he got off the plane this Saturday in Moanda, accompanied by the Ministers of Hydrocarbons and that of Tourism.
This long-awaited project in Moanda, in particular for its development, is gradually becoming a reality. It will create direct jobs and will promote the transport of goods by container. For the time being, the DRC receives a low tonnage of goods compared to the ports of Pointe Noire in Congo Brazza, Luanda in Angola or that of Kribi in Cameroon where large ships dock.
In addition, the construction of a deep-water port in Banana will not only facilitate the export of local products, but also, it will have a positive impact on the price of imported products. It should be recalled that it was the Emirati consortium DP Word which won this deep-water port construction contract, the cost of the works of which is estimated at nearly 1 billion 300 million US dollars for a period of more than 2 year.

Fingers crossed
