It's really sad watching this. Here you have educated engineers, politicians journalists and specialists all discussing the immense opportunity that Manono offers the DRC. They know the value sitting right under their feet, both from a monetary perspective but also the importance from a moral perspective to provide this resource to humanity and ease the transition away from fossil fuels.
They rightfully know how 'ridiculous' (their own words) this all makes their country look on the world stage and understand the long term damage this does to global investor confidence in their home country. With a country in such desperate need of infrastructure, investment and modernized ways of mining to access these resources - along comes Dathcom playing by the rules set out by the DRC. All of this boundless opportunity to be stopped by the greed of a few individuals and as these experts say are ensuring future generations of Congolese remain impoverished.
I firmly believe if Felix and the DRC can demonstrate their ability to get AVZ online they will take their place on the world stage and be in control of their destiny. If corruption prevails, they will be set down a dark path of losing their own sovereignty exploitative foreign interests and dooming their people to suffering for several more generations at least.
You can feel the frustration of these educated men and I don't blame them...
