There has been some ugle scenes in the past.
I can say with certainty, not a fleeting thought like you "think", the current BoD have never ceased on opportunity to "update" shareholders.
It's always been a case of treating shareholders like mushrooms, definitely kept in the dark and what is communicated is shite.
Such that personally (and my disclosure is I only have 7 + years following AVZ)
The "mushroom" shareholder update approach will continue.

Well, we'll see if this is laughable or not in the coming days.

We already had another ann yesterday - Dathomir Dispute Update. As we are nearing the AGM, things are gonna get ugly - AVZ BOD will be more often responding to MMGA narrative on their website, AFR'S Tom Richardson is probably already working on some nasty piece of skewed reporting which will soon be released. So, yeah, things are heating up, meaning getting ugly. AVZ and MMGA are competing now for our votes. So we'll be hearing more often from AVZ.

After the AGM, my bet is BOD will also be updating us more often because they are now less constrained by outside circumstances and probably want to make up for the understandable lack of communication in the past. Also, the ICC case is not that far from being finalised.
