Running discussion on SP, page-84950

My SMSF wrote AVZ down to a very small value on 30-Jun-2022 because the auditor would not permit the AVZ shares to continue to be valued at 78c, the last traded price. However, my SMSF still owns the AVZ shares via the Automic Group share registry. Because the AVZ shares were not sold, just devalued hugely, it did not trigger a tax event. However, when Kubold or some other large company buys my superfund AVZ shares for $5, the SMSF will be liable for tax ... but not if my SMSF is in pension mode at the time.
