there is a similar atory where buffets tells of one of his worst investments. very early on, he had a wedge in a very young disney corporation. he successfully made a very good gain on the early investment . . from memory more than doubled. however, the sell, which made him a few million, ultimately cost him billions in foregone gains in the disney corp.
i remember reading a long detailed account of this that buffet shared the lesson that if you have a winner, then be comfortable and maybe even aggressive in letting the gains ride and enjoy the cumulative long-term growth. it was a wealth creation tip that stuck with me.
clearly need to assess.eqxh investment on its merits but i am very comfortable with the 3/ 5 / 10 yr horizon with wbt
