yeah you're right - and perhaps but I don't believe it is technical hurdles from what I have seen
I simply think it is the focus to revenue has magnified as 'customers' have approached the company for design and implementation data to adopt - and a lot of these customers will cross over from the adoption of embedded to discrete I suspect so I don't see the path is away from discrete due to technicals ....
but I agree with your reason for the concern - very analytical thinking
