    its not a matter of negotiating with the partners that have just been whacked its how much pain it causes to the US consumer at the register

    if these countries cut exports today to the USA the deficit trade balance would return to zero but the USA would be in serious trouble
    so now Americans will pay for that to occur through these 'taxes'
    will that make manufacturers return to the USA to maintain profit margin ?

    as an example iI Apple returned just 10% of its' Iphone manufacturing to the USA the cost of the iphone to a US buyer will increase from $1000.00 to $3000 per unit - again Americans will pay


    Semiconductors won't get a free pass - supply chain 'taxes' tariffs will appear and cause significant impact
    to those tech suppliers who have not wished to onshore in the US due to the higher cost of doing trade - see apple example above

    Weebit volume cost advantage becomes significantly more attractive under these conditions
